Discovered: Growing up in middle class West Philadelphia, Will got the nickname 'Prince' because of the way he could charm his way out of trouble.
Will got started in his music career when he met Jeff Townes at a party and began performing together as DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. The duo were a huge hit, and more success would soon follow when Will met Benny Medina, who had an idea for a sitcom based on his Will's life in Beverly Hills.
Will loved the idea as did NBC which put on the "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". The hugely popular series lasted 6 years. During that time, Will starred in several movies including the hit film, Six Degrees of Separation. Will also starred in the popular Bad Boys.
One of his biggest film successes came in 1996 with the big-budget movie, Independence Day. His most critically acclaimed performance came in the role that also won him an Oscar nomination, that of Muhammad Ali in 2001's Ali.
