Vanessa Marcil was born in San Diego California, to a father with Portuguese and a mother with French background.
After high school, Vanessa began to study law. She later decided to pursue an acting career, and starred in stage plays like: "Pygmalion", "Mamet's Women", "The Miracle Worker", "Sweet Bird of Youth" and "Southern Rapture", a play directed by Peter Fonda.
She played the part of Brenda Barrett Jacks in General Hospital from 1992-1998. In 1997, she won Hottest Female Star at the Soap Opera Awards.
She made her Motion Pictures debut as Nicolas Cage's girlfriend in the 1995 blockbuster hit, The Rock.
Vanessa Marcil has recently starred in Fish Without a Bicycle (2003), and Las Vegas (2003) as Sam Marquez. Vanessa Marcil has also featured in many movies such as Storm Watch (2002), This Space Between Us (2000), and Nice Guys Sleep Alone (1999).
Vanessa was offered the cover and layout in Playboy Magazine but didn't take the offer because she doesn't like to show her body off.
