Organized to help promote Australian tourism in the States, the 9th Annual G'Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala was held at the Hollywood & Highland Grand Ballroom on Saturday night (January 14).
Among the nearly 1,000 guests enjoying the Aussie food and wine were Miranda Kerr, John Travolta with wife Kelly Preston, Delta Goodrem, Teresa Palmer and Cody Simpson.
The soiree also featured a toast to soft rock duo Air Supply, former NBA player Luc Longley and "Mildred Pierce" actor Guy Pearce, who was presented the Film and Television Award by his lovely co-star Kate Winslet.
Upon being doted with the accolade, Pearce said, "I'm honored and a bit embarrassed about both events to be honest."
Miss Winslet then said, "I have to resist killing Guy's wife Kate because she gets to wake up every day with Mike from Neighbors. I was in love with Mike. I would fake illness to skip school and watch Neighbors at 1:45pm and then the repeat at 5:30pm. I only just found out you were also in Home and Away. Thank god I didn't know that then or I wouldn't have gotten a f**king education!"
To this, Pearce got a laugh from the crowd as he shot back, "I hope you don't think kind words like that means we'll get to have sex again. You can't turn up to these things and expect a free ride."
