Lady Gaga has embarked upon a new venture, and somebody better take a picture of it fast! Lady G, the most explosive and bizarrely original music artist to emerge in 2009, will soon take instant gratification to an entirely new level, as the peculiar songstress has recently been announced as the new creative director for a specialty line of Polaroid imaging products. The instant photo company Polaroid has been searching for a new brand representative and Gaga's creative talents will now be tested with the company in the near future.
The Gaga/Polaroid deal will produce a line of imaging products specific to Polaroid's consistently original reputation, and while more on the partnership was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Jan. 7, the Gaga-infused product is still in the works.
Of her upcoming role with Polaroid, Lady Gaga said, "I am so proud to announce my new partnership with Polaroid as the creative director and inventor of specialty projects. The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation - blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era - and we are excited to collaborate on these ventures with the Polaroid brand."
The pop diva defined her creative wits that will be essential to the upcoming line of Polaroid products, saying, "Lifestyle, music, art, fashion: I am so excited to extend myself behind the scenes as a designer, and to as my father puts it - finally, have a real job."
Of course, her 'day job' hasn't at all been anything to scoff at. Lady Gaga is one of the most well-known pop stars on the music scene, infamous for taking her bizarre costumes and catchy songs to the top of the Billboard charts. Currently on the rise with her smash single "Bad Romance" and leading the nation in a chorus of "rah-rah-ah-ah-ah," Gaga has easily become the 'fame monster' her latest album boasts.
Before she was known as the quintessential theatrical dance-pop performer, Lady Gaga (first known by her real name, Stefani Joanne Germanotta) had a traditional upbringing, attending a private all-girl Catholic school in Manhattan, New York before studying at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Before long, however, Gaga had all hopes fixated on a music career, and she dropped out of NYU for a shot in the industry.
Her risk soon proved prosperous, as Lady Gaga signed a record deal with Def Jam in 2007, though it wasn't until 2008 that she first discovered fame through Akon's label Kon Live. Busting through the double doors of the pop realm with the sugary dance-pop megahit "Just Dance," Lady Gaga shocked the nation with her creativity and fresh style of music. "Just Dance" reached the top of the Billboard charts at the beginning of 2009, and the release of her debut album The Fame quickly followed, scoring huge hits with "LoveGame," "Paparazzi" and "Poker Face."
In 2009, Gaga released her sophomore set The Fame Monster and hasn't taken a break ever since, currently racking up number ones all over the charts with the album's lead single "Bad Romance." Her Fame Monster Tour has been a smash hit in '09 and '10, selling out Lady Gaga tickets online, and Lady Gaga's upcoming partnership with Polaroid only promises more success for this bizarrely unique superstar.
